Fast facts
- Scale: 1 → 10 with half-grades. Issues 9.5. Gem Mint 10, Pristine 10 (Gold Label for perfect cards).
- Slab: current slab is black/white/gold tuxedo. The blue-for-standard / green-for-vintage split was the pre-2018 slab generation — those still exist in the wild.
- Differentiator:flat pricing on modern (2001+) cards at Standard tier. No declared-value upcharge. PSA scales with value; SGC doesn’t. For a $2,500 modern rookie, SGC is often the cheapest path.
- Crossover-only min grade: unlike PSA, SGC does not accept minimum-grade requests on raw-card submissions — only on crossovers. Bulk submissions are all-in.

Post-Collectors turnaround reality
Advertised TATs are stale since the Feb 2024 acquisition. Volume dropped ~24% in 2025; throughput is ~9K cards/week (~40K/month). Standard turnaround has stretched from the legendary 5-7 business days to 30-60+ bd actual. If you’re modeling opportunity cost, plan for the longer end.
